Salem Water Limited pays dividend to PCG
The Salem Water Limited (SWL) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has presented a cheque for Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00) as dividend for 2016 to the Church.
This is the first time for many years that a company established by the PCG is paying dividend to the Church.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of Salem Water Limited, Dr. Joseph Addo Ampofo, Board Chairman of the company commended the Church for establishing the company. He gave an assurance that the company was doing well, and that in future, it would pay more money to support the activities of the Church.
He further explained that the payment of the GH¢10,000.00 dividend to the Church demonstrates the company’s commitment to live by its core tenets of supporting the Church to achieve its vision of financial sustainability.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of PCG, the Acting Moderator of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Victor Okoe Abbey commended the Board of Directors and Management of Salem Water Company Limited for the gesture.
He observed that the payment of dividends by SWL was timely, given the revenue gap that needed to be closed in order to deliver on the many development projects the Church administration intended to.
He pledged the Church’s support for the company to remain as the model company that would continue to show other companies established by the Church the leadership in innovation and service delivery.
Rev. Dr. Okoe Abbey urged other PCG established companies to emulate what Salem Water Limited has done and support the Church to wean itself away from depending on tithe payment by Church members to run the Church.
